“Echo Lake (formerly ‘Observatorium’) has been in part-time development for around 2.5 years. Since inception, our team has grown from 1 to 3 members and our goal has changed from a simple puzzle game to a deeper puzzle-adventure experience with a rich world and story. We still have a long road ahead but have recently hit an important development milestone; now is a great time to get others on-board for feedback as we refine existing mechanics and add new content.”
“We expect to spend 9-12 months in Early Access but this estimate may increase as we add new features and react to feedback.”
“Our current plan is to expand the existing content with elements like:
New puzzles – such as secret constellations
New locations – such as the the lighthouse
New items – such as Kit’s portable radio
New vehicles – such as rocket-based segments
New modes – such as action-based gameplay
New menus – such as inventory screens
World improvements – such as per-chapter artwork/audio
Accessibility improvements – such as new languages
Steam features – such as cloud saves
Story integration – such as dialogue
Our end goal for Echo Lake is a puzzle-adventure experience which includes gameplay from the current build alongside some of the aforementioned mechanics therefore most of our updates will be geared towards this. We’re open to addressing community feedback however and this list represents our current wishes only. Please also note that this list is subject to change as we expand our game further.”
“Our Astronomer Alpha (v1.0) forms the backbone of our product by means of our primary puzzle progression and basic world layout; the build contains 100 constellation puzzles spread across 8 levels and a few hours of gameplay. There may be bugs or balancing issues and it’s likely the current levels and mechanics will go through various revisions before leaving Early Access. Additionally, all artwork and audio are placeholder and subject to change as we expand our world and story.”
“The price will rise as we add new content. We only recommend purchasing the game at the current price if (1) you are keen on the current content and (2) you are willing to help us improve our product. We cannot promise incremental versions will be perfectly balanced or free from bugs so if you’d rather play a more evolved experience please wait for the full release.”
“Our primary aim is to react to Astronomer Alpha feedback; we intend to work alongside the community to improve our core navigation and puzzle mechanics which may lead to changes in numerous areas. Secondly, we wish to gather feedback on new items, mechanics and challenges as they become available. Substantial additions may take the form of all-new modes or themed content drops. Finally, we aim to collate any accessibility and compatibility issues so we can consider ways to address them.
We will make use of the Steam Community forums and an offsite forum called the Echo Lake Switchboard (link coming soon) to gather bugs and suggestions. Although we can’t respond to all comments directly we will certainly be collating and reviewing all feedback.
We are a small team of three developers but will strive to keep the community updated of any developments and delays as best as we can – C3 Team”
